Without some form of protection, any wood decking will deteriorate over time as water, wind and sun takes its toll. You can decide to:
- Leave your new wood decking as is, allowing it to "silver" over time (picture on the right);
- Protect it with our clear wood sealer which will also result in a "silvering" of the wood over time but will allow the wood to resist water and remain stable.
- Apply a stain which will both protect the wood and provide a colour. To keep the colour, a re-application will be required every few years depending on the exposure of the wood (i.e. sun and wind) and the amount of traffic.
We use Sansin Natural Stains because they are environmentally friendly and their unique water-borne alkyd formula combines the benefits of both oil- and water-based coatings, reducing environmental toxins – such as VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that contribute to smog and ozone depletion – to almost zero.
PLEASE NOTE: The final colour of your stain may vary depending on the wood type chosen (i.e. cedar, MPS), the number of coats applied, wood texture and grain, color and porosity.
