Most balcony gardens are exposed places and are subject to drying winds and sun. This can be a challenge to lots of plants that like water. There are planters that have reservoirs that store water and wick it up into the soil. These can keep plants happy for about a week before they need to be refilled. Alternatively you can plant grasses and succulents that love the dry and exposed conditions. Grasses are attractive even after the season is done and will give a nice effect through the winter when they can be cut down and will start to grow again. Succulents are fabulous plants that come in a multitude of colours and textures and actually prefer the dry and sunny spots that your balcony provides.
Ideal for exposed balcony gardens that need little maintenance and are attractive all year.
